Fluid Drives
Fluid drive upgrades to maximize reliability

Fluid Drives, also known as “Hydraulic Couplings”, can be very reliable. In fact, fluid drives that are designed correctly are more reliable with lower cost maintenance than other forms of variable speed drivers such as mechanical drive steam turbines and electronic variable frequency drives. A typical time frame between routine inspections of a Fluid Drive designed and built by TRI is approximately 10 to 12 years.
Babbitt Bearing Repair

TRI Transmission and Bearing rebuilds, repairs and refurbishes all types of Babbitt bearings. As a bearing engineering, design, and manufacture source we have expertise in all aspects of bearing repair including bearing failure analysis. We repair Babbitt bearings under all conditions. TRI is very responsive when it come to refurbishing Babbitt bearings. Our staff are highly trained and skilled experts in bearing repair and can support any outage on a 24 hour a day 7 days a week schedule.

Rotor Analysis and Computer Modeling

Turbo Research developed a series of proprietary computer programs for modeling and simulating the performance and vibratory behavior of complex bearing and flexible rotor-bearing system of all sizes. TRI has been using these programs since the early 1970s to understand the detailed performance of individual journal bearings and to predict accurately the vibratory behavior of complex rotor-bearing systems for specific tilt-pad bearing geometry.
Large Capacity Machining

TRI Manufacturing has several decades of experience in manufacturing and repairing critical industrial equipment. Machining large size pieces of high-strength alloy steel, such as AISI 4340, while holding tolerances of +/- 0.001″ is routine for TRI. The TRI facility is 25,000 sq. ft. under roof. Bridge crane capacity is 7.5 tons.
